FLY FISHING

INFO NOTE: BELIEVE IT OR NOT, A FLY ROD CAN APPLY ENOUGH PRESSURE TO STOP A SHARK IN ITS TRACKS.

Sometimes the shark will take the fly; sometimes they won't. Very similar to traditional fly fishing, those dang fish can be finicky. But that is the excitement and sport of fishing.

All of our shark flies are tied locally at our favorite tackle shop, Fishin' Fever in Halifax, as well as some very talented local fly fisherman. We provide both left and right-handed reels for your convenience.

Fly fishing for shark is an incredible thrill for the experienced fly angler. Fly fishing for shark is performed by a method of 'sight casting'. Once the chum slick has attracted the shark, a line is cast carefully into its line of sight. This can be very exciting as you watch the fin slicing through the water, and anticipate the strike. And of course it is truly amazing to watch a fly rod bent WAY over, testing its every fiber (and yours, too!)

Admittedly, I am not an accomplished fly fisherman. But then again, I'm not fishing...you are. It really is a thrill for me to watch an experienced fly angler do his/her stuff.
